Pope Pius V: Quo Primum: Or “no new rituals!” This infallible encyclical cemented the Roman rite in perpetuity. Further, any modification of the ritual itself “will incur the wrath of Almighty God and of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul.” Quo Primum was printed at the beginning of every missal until 1969.
